Review Summary:

While WestHost won’t blow prospective users away with a treasure trove of features and unlimited options on low cost plans, for your money, it does bring a dependable web hosting service to the table.

As far as web hosting is concerned, each platform looks to distance itself from the pack with some above-and-beyond service. WestHost does this with customer service, making its way into the hearts of our review team with top grade support. From there though WestHost falls in line, and behind, the many web hosting platforms available.

WestHost has options for all types of web developers, but for those looking for more than adequate features will be forced to upgrade to WestHost’s more expensive tiers of service. Personal, Preferred, and Business plans are available, each bringing a number of features from its less expensive counterpart. Of the three available hosting options, only the most expensive, Business plan, comes with unlimited disk space, bandwidth, and databases. This was a hindrance to a number of medium sized businesses in our review process, as the feature sets in the more expensive hosting options saw large increases in basic features over the lowest tiered service.

The entry-level plan, Personal, has limitations of 50gb and 1000gb on disk space and bandwidth, respectively. The Preferred plan does offer unlimited databases, but again limits disk space and bandwidth to 250gb and 2500gb. While the limits on the Personal plan may not hurt the individual web site or ultra small business, they aren’t particularly enticing at $4 per month. If you go with WestHost, we recommend shelling out the extra fee to upgrade to Preferred or Business, as the feature set is much more in line with a growing business.

Once site development gets underway, WestHost offers third party hosting platform, cPanel, to developers. This is consistent with a number of other hosting options on the market and brings with it a qualified tool to site creators. There are a few snags with cPanel that make the process of managing web sites a little clunky at times, but overall WestHost nails this portion of the process, even offering a reliable site builder to help with the numerous integrated features included in cPanel’s control panel.

For the uninitiated developer encountering issues in the development of their business web site, WestHost happens to have a top of the line support infrastructure set up to make for a seamless process, devoid of lags and extended wait times of any kind. One of the more detailed FAQs and the backing of strong phone and chat support make for a consistently strong support package. Here, WestHost shines.

While WestHost won’t blow prospective users away with a treasure trove of features and unlimited options on low cost plans, for your money, it does bring a dependable web hosting service to the table, complete with a generally easy-to-use site creation tool and cPanel hosting platform. For the trickier site development projects and general hosting concerns, a knowledgeable staff of customer service representatives is on hand to give solid support. There are cheaper services and ones with more inherent features on their basic plans. That being said, in doing your homework in search of the web host for your business, it wouldn’t hurt to give WestHost a looksee. They have the potential to wow you, even if some of that potential is as of yet unrealized.
