VerticalResponse makes a priority of organization. The service is easy to navigate. For building emails both an email wizard and standard HTML are available. If you want your emails to mimic your business website there is a freeform HTML editing option. The email creation capabilities in VerticalResponse are set up in a logical way that our review process found to be above average all around.
The event management tools are noteworthy as well, offering a comprehensive package for creating everything needed to promote any type of event. With the service you can do everything from creating a website for your event to promoting it on Facebook and Twitter. Live statistics are available in the dashboard to check ticket sales and registration numbers. The service is a real plus all around.
Another stellar addition to VerticalResponse is its integration with Salesforce. Depending on your personal inclinations this is very good or very so/so news. Salesforce can be a valuable tool. Reporting within VerticalResponse’s interface isn’t the best, but once that interface is combined with Salesforce VerticalResponse gets high marks, with Salesforce even going so far as to give the option to install VerticalResponse directly into your Salesforce account.
As far as pricing is concerned, VerticalResponse offers one of the lowest introductory rates in the industry at monthly rates of $8.80 and $12.75 for the basic and pro plans, respectively, each with an email list of 500 contacts or fewer. Prices increase as contact lists increase as is expected. But there is a lot of fine print on pricing.
While the initial prices are fantastic, they don’t come with all the features VerticalResponse offers, specifically social media tools, surveys, and event-planning. Paying extra for social media integration, built in survey creation, and event management should be factored into any decision to sign up. This is either a big deal or none at all, depending on what services your business needs, but it’s worth noting before signing up for anything, as these tools are invaluable to some businesses.
One other nuisance seen in our review process is the incompatibility seen with some web browsers. While Firefox and Internet Explorer saw no issues, problems have been reported with Safari and Google Chrome. If you plan on using either of these browsers, be prepared to have either IE or Firefox at the ready.
If VerticalResponse doesn’t make the short list of email marketing services it should by all means be first alternate. Clean, organized interfaces don’t grow on trees. Likewise, integration with Salesforce and the social media and survey options are fantastic. For those willing to use IE or Firefox and small businesses willing to shell out a little more per month, this is a top of the line service.
An improved interface, event management tools, and various social media tools keep it in the conversation as a solid corporate email marketing platform.
