Entrepreneurial Conferences to Attend in 2017: West Coast Edition

Entrepreneurial Conferences to Attend in 2017: West Coast Edition

Face-to-face interactions will always have a place in the world, especially in entrepreneurship. Online communication has improved the speed at which people can complete tasks and share important information, but it can never replace face-to-face interactions that are powerful for building relationships and expanding your network. It is recommended that all small business owners and entrepreneurs attend at least one conference a year to grow and improve their businesses. For those living on the West Coast, here are the top five entrepreneurial conferences to considering attending in 2017:

Startup Grind Conference

The Startup Grind Conference powered by Google will take place on February 21-22, 2017 in Silicon Valley, one of the world’s largest tech centers. Startup Grind is a startup community that strives to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs. They were founded in Silicon Valley but now reach over 200 cities around the world.

Speakers from Google, Instagram, Airbnb, and Lyft spoke at past conferences, so you know you’ll have the chance to listen to some great speakers. The lineup for their 2017 conference includes 3,000 founders and investors, over 40 exhibiting startups, and over 40 keynote speakers and fireside sessions. This will be Startup Grind Conference’s largest event ever. Some of the speakers scheduled to speak at the 2017 entrepreneurial conference are Hiten Shah of KISSmetrics, Ryan Holmes of Hootsuite, and Daphne Koller of Coursera.

World Domination Summit

The World Domination Summit takes place every year with the motto of “making a remarkable life in a conventional world”. Most entrepreneurs can relate to that motto since one of the reasons they pursued entrepreneurship was to live the best life possible. They aren’t happy with mediocrity. The conference will take place in July 2017 in Portland, Oregon. The World Domination Summit offers mini-academies on specific topics that you can choose to attend. Examples of topics they have covered in the past are overcoming rejection, publishing books, fueling passion projects, and learning a language fast. The list of mini-academies that you can choose from for the 2017 summit will be released in spring 2017.

Social Media Marketing World

Hosted by one of the top social media marketing sites Social Media Examiner, Social Media Marketing World 2017 is an excellent event to attend if you use social media to market your business. Social Media Marketing World 2017 will take place on March 22-24 in San Diego at the San Diego Convention Center.

If you register for the event, you’ll receive access to the online recordings of all the workshops, sessions, and keynote sessions. That way if you’re torn between which workshop to attend, you can make the decision easier knowing that you can view the other workshop’s online recording later. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served on Thursday and Friday of the event to make sure you’re not hungry during the conference in case you didn’t eat before showing up at the venue. For people who are unable to travel, Social Media Marketing World offers a virtual ticket as well.

Next Generation Customer Experience Conference

A mixture of Fortune 500 companies and startups attend the Next Generation Customer Experience Conference every year. Past attendees of NGCX include Adobe, Zappos, Walgreens, and IBM. The 2017 Next Generation Customer Experience Conference is scheduled for March 27-29, 2017 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California.

The speakers at NGCX are limited to 20 minutes, so that you can learn more faster during the event. Speakers at NGCX often spark paradigm shifts, challenge assumptions, and provide new insights to attendees. The Next Generation Customer Experience Conference is a great way to challenge and grow your mind. You may also make new friends and business connections while networking at NGCX. Some of the speakers for NGCX 2017 are Micah Solomon of Forbes, Barbie Fink of Adobe, Christopher Barefoot of Opus One Winery, and Lisa Hess of Lancaster General Health.

Small Business Institute Annual Conference

Scheduled for February 16-18, 2017, the Small Business Institute Annual Conference will take place in San Diego at the Bahia Resort. This conference utilizes workshops, keynote speakers, and paper presentations to promote professional development opportunities. Research in small business and entrepreneurship is also presented at the SBI annual conference. The hotel registration deadline is January 16, 2017.

Attending just one of these entrepreneurial conferences in 2017 can help you take your business to the next level. Ask yourself what your business is most in need of right now to grow. Perhaps, your social media accounts aren’t doing as well as you hoped. Or maybe you have too many negative reviews from customers and need to become better at creating a positive customer experience. Whatever you choose to improve upon in 2016 will lead you to the right entrepreneurial conference for you.
